On September 20, 2016, the Ministry of Labor held the 2016 "Five-Star Award for Occupational Safety and Health Excellent Units and Public Works Golden Safety Award Ceremony" at the International Conference Center of National Taiwan University Hospital. The Ministry of Labor holds the "Public Works Golden Safety Award" and " The purpose of the "Five-Star Award for Excellent Units" selection is to reward public projects and enterprises that implement excellent workplace safety and health, set up learning models, improve workplace safety standards, and reduce occupational hazards.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the Ministry of Labor takes the lead in demonstrations through public projects initiated by the government, leading private projects to work together, and continues to work towards zero occupational accidents to show the government's determination to take care of vulnerable workers. The eligibility requirements for participating in the Golden Safety Award review include that there must be no major occupational accidents during the project period, and the safety and health implementation performance of the project is also listed as a scoring item. Therefore, the project sponsor, supervision unit, and construction company must work together as one. Only by exerting team spirit and implementing construction safety risk management, safety supervision matters, and safety and health system plan implementation can we win the honor of the Golden Safety Award for Public Works. Because of its high level of challenge, it is often compared with the public engineering associations in the industry. Engineering Gold Medal is regarded as the same.

The main reason for this award is that risk assessment was introduced at the design stage to eliminate the hazards invisible. In addition to implementing various necessary measures due to occupational safety laws and regulations, it is superior to the regulations using GPS, inclinometers, rainfall and earthquake monitoring, and the establishment of "construction real-time images "Information management system" to keep abreast of environmental changes and construction status in the work area to ensure the safety of construction personnel.
